Until the video is out, here it is in text:
The problem
Explaining a system to people who don’t code is hard. Diagrams scare them, code says nothing, and the client leaves the meeting without knowing where their order gets stuck.
The idea
Repartments reads the system’s repository and turns the system into a little building. Each part (the screen, the API, the database, the e-mail) becomes a resident, with a name badge.
The scenes
Each flow, like a purchase or a sign-up, becomes a scene: the residents carry requests and answers from room to room, and a caption explains each step in plain words.
The presentation
You show it live in the meeting, or export it as a video or as PowerPoint. You can swap the technical names for your client’s own words before presenting.
Who it is for
For anyone who has to explain a system to people who don’t code: software houses, freelancers, product teams, consultancies, pre-sales.
Where it is now
The Building, which turns anyone’s public repositories into a little tower, is already live. The studio, where presentations are made, is becoming a tool that runs on your computer, and the first tests will start with the people who sign up here.
Technical questions
To watch, no: the presentation is made for people who don’t code, like a client, a manager or someone in sales. To build it, you need the system’s repository.
No. The new version runs on your computer and reads the code right there. Nothing goes to a Repartments server.
No. The analysis is static and deterministic: Repartments reads the code’s structure and builds the scenes from it, without sending anything to an AI service.
No. Access is read-only.
Yes. The studio already opened private repositories, and the new version, running on your computer, does too.
You present it live, or export it as a video or as PowerPoint.
The test is free. Repartments started as open source, and the Building is still open on GitHub (github.com/Yourdevdaniel/repartments). We saw the chance to turn the idea into a tool for everyday work, and the new studio is being built separately, closed source for now.
Uses the tool on a real system, finds what doesn’t work and says what they think. Your feedback decides what comes first.
